This was a fun project to do! A welcoming creamery nursery with a wicker lampshade, a knit and fur rug, and baskets for storage.
Things I kept in mind while putting this moodboard, •Personality despite using whites, creams, etc. •A calm (but not boring) vibe, be functional and practical, and reflect the accepting parents •Invest in pieces and furnishings that would transcend the first two years •Flexible palette and furnishings to be able further personalize the room.
Results: is a little eclectic with lots of tradition. It’s cozy, textured, and layered, but I also kept some things more streamlined, minimal, and clean. It has a natural, slightly bohemian vibe but not in a too-trendy.
Bedding-I went with a black and white gingham fitted sheet for some drama, I didn’t want everything to fade into a sea of white. The macrame crib skirt was a final touch to bring everything together.
Wall art & Decor: a gallery wall is a fun and personal touch in a baby’s room. I added black and white artwork as an option as well to coordinate with the fitted sheet and to add character.
Bookshelf-excellent piece for all your favorite accumulated items without clutter😊
Welcome! I’m Masha, a passionate advocate for the intersection of mental wellness and design. With a background in criminal justice and criminology, I’ve always been fascinated by the ways our environments shape our thoughts, behaviors, and overall well-being. This curiosity led me to explore how psychological principles can be seamlessly integrated into home design to create spaces that not only look beautiful but also foster mental health and relaxation.
In addition to my studies, I run a small business called OCD (Organize Create Design), where I focus on designing spaces that promote mental awareness and well-being. I believe that our surroundings have a profound impact on our mental state, and through my work, I aim to help others create homes that truly support their emotional and psychological needs.
This blog is a space where I share insights, tips, and research on how to apply psychological theories to home design. Whether you’re looking to create a stress-free environment, enhance your productivity, or simply make your home a sanctuary, you’ll find practical advice and inspiration here.
When I’m not writing or working on design projects, I’m pursuing my master’s degree in criminal justice and criminology at UMKC. My goal is to contribute to policymaking that positively impacts international adoptees and families, drawing from both my personal experiences and academic knowledge.
Thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope you find the content here helpful and inspiring as you work to create a home that nurtures your well-being.
